Sierra Rogers

Sierra Rogers is a Phoenix-based marching arts educator, drill designer, and choreographer. In 2018, Sierra earned a bachelor’s degree in Music from Arizona State University. As an educator, Sierra has served as the visual caption head and choreographer for Flux Indoor Percussion since its inaugural season in 2019. In addition to her work in WGI, Sierra has served in a variety of staff positions for schools in her area during the fall, including four years with the Highland marching band. Sierra marched with The Academy from 2012 to 2019, spending five years on contra and three as drum major. She currently teaches visual with the Madison Scouts.

Thomas Goers

Tommy is a California native who just graduated from Arizona State University. He currently works with Equitable Advisors as a Financial Professional. Tommy’s experience includes ensembles such as Flux Indoor Percussion and The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps. In his free time he loves skiing, hiking and volleyball.

Elly Karlowicz

Elly currently attends Arizona State University as a Biochemistry and Supply Chain Management major. She is also a member of a sorority, Sigma Kappa. She’s performed with The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps, and the Sun Devil Marching Band. Outside of teaching Elly also loves playing with her cat, Boo!

Oboe Coach
Maja Dinger

An avid performer, teacher, and reed-maker, Maja Dinger is an active oboist in the Phoenix area. She is currently the adjunct oboe instructor at Paradise Valley Community College along with the preschool music teacher at Paradise Valley United Methodist Church Preschool, and performs regularly with the Symphony of the Southwest, ProMusica Arizona, West Valley Symphony, and Prescott Pops Symphony. Maja has also taught music history at the collegiate level for two years.  Maja Dinger received her Bachelor’s degree in oboe performance from Eastern Illinois University and her Master’s degree in oboe performance from Northern Illinois University. She also studied in Salzburg, Austria, and will perform Carmen, The Marriage of Figaro, and The Magic Flute in Vienna this upcoming summer. She is currently working on the last year of her Doctoral degree at Arizona State University under the tutelage of Martin Schuring. When she is not making reeds or practicing, Maja enjoys playing with her dog, hiking, and spending time with her family.

Mason Cox

Mason Cox is an upcoming performer and teacher in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area. Originally from Northern California, Mason is currently in his third year of his undergraduate at Arizona State University where he is pursuing two degrees: a Bachelor of Music in bassoon performance and a Bachelor of Music in music theory. At ASU, Mason is an active member of the Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, as well as a brother of the Beta Omicron chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi (the honorary band fraternity). This last summer, Mason attended the Rocky Ridge Music Festival in Estes Park, Colorado, and will be attending the Vienna Summer Music Festival in Vienna, Austria, in June 2022. Outside from his studies, teaching, and performing, Mason enjoys his daily runs, hiking, sight-seeing, and trying new food.

Percussion Instructor
Josh Gottry

Josh Gottry earned his Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance at Northern Arizona University, his Master of Music in Composition at Arizona State University, and has spent over 25 years working with and creating music for the next generation of percussionists.

Mr. Gottry currently serves as adjunct music faculty at Chandler-Gilbert Community College and a percussion specialist with Gilbert Public Schools, teaching music theory and composition, applied percussion and percussion ensemble, and music humanities. Additionally, he works with ensembles and students at all grade levels as a clinician and within his private lesson studio. His performance record spans over 25 years with experience including professional orchestras, musical theater, worship teams, jazz combos, community and chamber ensembles, as well as solo performances and recitals.
As a composer, Mr. Gottry has been consistently creating innovative, pedagogical, and engaging new compositions and arrangements, primarily for percussion. During that time, he has been selected for numerous ASCAP Plus awards and has created over 100 published works. His compositions have been performed throughout the world at middle schools and high schools, colleges and universities, state and National festivals, and international conventions.

Josh Gottry is a member of the Percussive Arts Society and the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers, has been published in Percussive Notes, Rhythm! Scene, and The PAS Educators' Companion, and currently serves as editor for Rhythm! Scene. He is also a past president and the current secretary of the Arizona Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society, a former PAS committee chair for the PAS Composition Committee, and contributed several years as a new literature reviewer for Percussive Notes. Mr. Gottry is a clinician/endorser for Balter Mallets, Meinl Percussion, Remo Drumheads, Vic Firth Drumsticks, and Yamaha Percussion, and has presented clinics at the Arizona Music Educators Association Conference, multiple state PAS days of percussion, and the Percussive Arts Society International Convention.
